Based on information in Text 1, which sentence states the author's primary claim?
wel

Answer: D

Explanation: a primary claim is sort of like the “main idea”, or the idea that an author is going to prove. A, B and C are longer sentences, and would be ones that were used to prove or further explain the main idea.

Hello. You did not enter the text to which this question refers, nor did you present the answer options, which makes it impossible for your question to be answered. However, I will try to help you in the best possible way.

The tone of a text refers to the feeling that the author of a text wants the reader to feel at the moment he is doing the reading. This tone promotes an atmosphere that intensifies the theme that the author is addressing. In this case, the author can promote a happy tone to reinforce the idea of achievements, progress, happiness, among other happy situations, as well as a sad tone to reinforce pessimism and defeat, a surprised tone to reinforce suspense and so on.

Read the passage and answer the question. [1620] . . . so as there died sometimes two or three of a day, in the foresaid time; t
Elenna [48]
Most of the above passage includes descriptions of the tasks that the caretakers did for the sick, but if you look where Bradford first mentions those caretakers, you can see just how he feels about them. This phrase, "there was but six or seven sound persons, who, to their great commendations be in spoken, spared no pains, night nor day, but with abundance of toil and hazard of their own health" holds the key. If you look closely at this phrase, Bradford describes how many people acted as caretakers (six or seven) and includes a single word, "commendations," that means praise. To suggests they deserve "great commendations" tells the reader that Bradford feels like these caretakers deserve the highest praise for what they do. My answer, then, would be the word "commendations."
