(-1,-2) and (1,2) so to go from the first point to the second point you have to rise 2 units and you have to go over 4 units, this means that our rise over run or (slope) is equal to 2/4 but we are gonna simplify this down to 1/2. now we will plug this in to the equation we have set up the outline for. slope is (m) so plug in 1/2 for (m). y=1/2(x)+b. the next step is to find the y-intercept which (b) represents in this equation. in order to find the y-intercept you simply plug in (0) for (x) and solve to find (b). y=1/2(0)+b after you work this out you see that you are left with 0=b so this means that the y-intercept is 0 this means that you don't have to have the +(0) where (b) would be located. therefore your left with the equation y=1/2x. this is your final answer. hope I helped. have a great day!
