If the student got a true statement, it is an identity
example, ending with x=x or 10=10 means it is an identity

if the student ended up with a false statement, there is no solution
example, 10=2

Answer:

In elimination method we eliminate one variable by multiplying constant and adding/subtracting with the other equation.

But sometimes it happen that the result after applying elimination method eliminate both the variables and we get either true statement (like 0 = 0) or a false statement (like 0 = 6). If we get false statement then the given set of equations has no solution.

Let’s look at an example.

Solve for x and y.

-x – y = -4

and, x + y = 2

After subtracting equation first equation from second one. We get,

0 = −2

Hence, There is no solution.

Find the equation of the axis of symmetry.
equation of axis of symmetry:
sleet_krkn [62]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  x = -4

Step-by-step explanation:

The axis of symmetry is the vertical line through the vertex. The vertex is the turning point, or minimum, of the function. It is (x, y) = (-4, 0). The x-coordinate there is -4, so the equation of the axis of symmetry is ...

Use pascal's triangle to expand the following binomial expression
1.(2k-1/3)⁶
Gwar [14]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  64k^6 -64k^5 +(80/3)k^4 -(160/27)k^3 +(20/27)k^2 -(4/81)k +1/729

Step-by-step explanation:

The row of Pascal's triangle we need for a 6th power expansion is ...

  1, 6, 15, 20, 15, 6, 1

These are the coefficients of the products (a^(n-k))(b^k) in the expansion of (a+b)^n as k ranges from 0 to n.

Your expansion is ...

  1(2k)^6(-1/3)^0 +6(2k)^5(-1/3)^1 +15(2k)^4(-1/3)^2 +20(2k)^3(-1/3)^3 +...

     15(2k)^2(-1/3)^4 +6(2k)^1(-1/3)^5 +1(2k)^0(-1/3)^6

  = 64k^6 -64k^5 +(80/3)k^4 -(160/27)k^3 +(20/27)k^2 -(4/81)k +1/729
