<span>Since 2000, the South African Government's Department of Transportation has funded the construction of pedestrian crossways above highways to eliminate the number of fatalities caused by people crossing highways, in addition to this, they have also supported drivers through constructing emergency telephones at the side of the roads for drivers who break down, through the "Arrive Alive" campaign.

For their HIV/AIDS awareness program, South Africa has a strategic plan to address: prevention, treatment (care and support), legal and human rights, monitoring, research, and evaluation. As one of the largest issues facing South Africa aims to, through their program, reduce the number of new cases of HIV/AIDS, and reduce the impact of it upon individuals, families, and communities. 

16 Days of Activism is a campaign to oppose violence against women and children, which South Africa adopted in 2008. The government instituted this Act in 2008 and ratified many other protective policies to give victims of assault stronger rights, and enshrine laws to prevent violence against vulnerable groups. The SA government passes</span><span> legislation which prevents or prohibit discrimination to individuals based on race and gender.</span>
