1 The volume of the cube is 2 * 2 * 2 or 2 ^ 3 in ^ 3 while the volume of the large box is 10 * 10 * 10 or 10 ^ 3 in ^ 3.

2 The answer is 125. Just divide the large box to the volume of the cube 1000 / 8 = 125.

3 The box will hold the same number of balls as small boxes. With the balls, there is empty space.

4 The answer is still 125. Just find the volume of the box and of the cube. Divide the box volume by the cube volume.

David bought 3 dvds and 4 books for $40 at a yard sale. Anna bought 1 dvd and 6 books for $18. How much did each dvd and book co
Ber [7]

Answer:

A book is worth $1 and a DVD is worth $12.

Step-by-step explanation:

The equations (2 unknowns and two equations, d is for a DVD and b is for a book):

For David: 3d+4b=40

For Anna: d+6b=18

Now multiply the second equation with -3 and add to the first equation:

3d+4b=40

−3d−18b=−54

Combined equation: −14b=−14 and b=1 (means that each book is worth $1).

Now for DVD price, use the second equation:

d=18−6 or d=12 (means that each DVD  is worth $12).

A book is worth $1 and a DVD is worth $12.

Molodets [167]

Answer:

x = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

given 2 chords intersecting inside a circle , then

the product of the parts of one chord is equal to the product of the parts of the other chord, that is

9 × 4x = 8(4x + 2)

36x = 32x + 16 ( subtract 32x from both sides )

4x = 16 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x = 4

Fill in the blank by performing the indicated elementary row operation(s).
Scilla [17]

In this question, we are given a matrix, and we have to perform the given operation.

The matrix is:

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}6&-1&|5\\1&-5&|0\end{array}\right]

The following operation is given:

R_1 \rightarrow -6R_2 + R_1

In which R_1 is the element at the first line and R_2 is the element at the second line.

Updating the first line:

R_{1,1} = -6*1 + 6 = 0

R_{1,2} = -6*-5 - 1 = 30 - 1 = 29

R_{1,3} = -6*0 + 5 = 5

Thus, the filled matrix will be given by:

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}0&29&|5\\1&-5&|0\end{array}\right]
