This was a surprise attack by the Japanese effort at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This would drive the US out of isolation, making them join the war.
This also led to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Women gained the right to vote with the 19th amendment opening up an array of opportunities for them.
