In algebra, there are lots of rules and properties to remember. The good news is that once you understand them, you can apply th

em in lots of different orders and combinations. Give an example of a mathematic problem that can be solved in multiple ways by applying properties of algebra differently. Explain your reasoning

Answer & Step-by-step explanation:

Mathematical Problem Example :  100 x 105

By commutative rule, a x b = b x a : 100 x 105 = 105 x 100 = 10500

By distributive rule, a x (b+c) = (a x b)  + (a x c)

Breaking down 105, we get : 100 x 105 = 100 (100 + 5)

= (100 x 100) + (100 x 5) = 10000 + 500 = 10500

As solutions by both rules are same, algebra multiple ways to solve a mathematical problem have been hence proved.

What is the difference in length between a 1 1/4 inch button and a 3/8 inch button?
charle [14.2K]
1 1/4= 1*4+1 /4. Or 5/4

In order to subtract you must have same denominator. 5/4 -3/8

Multiply 5/4 times 2/2. =. 10/8. -3/8

The difference is 7/8

explain why multiplying the numerator and denominator of a fraction by the same number results in an equivalent fraction
Tomtit [17]
Think:  You're treating the numerator and the denom. in precisely the same way.  In doing so you are NOT changing the value of the fraction, only the appearance.

Example:  start with 2/3.  Mult num. and den. both by 7:  14/21.

2/3 and 14/21 result in precisely the same decimal fraction, showing that the latter set of fractions is equivalent to the former set.

The length of a bridge is 230 m. The length of each of Robert's paces is 75 cm.
wariber [46]

Answer:

307 paces

Step-by-step explanation:

First, lets convert Robert's pace to metres. (cm > m)

75cm = (75/100)m

= 0.75m

Number of Full Paces = Length of Bridge / 1 Full Pace

=

\frac{230m}{0.75m} \\ = 306 \frac{2}{3} paces

See , we must have full paces, and in this case we are finding the minimum number of paces, so we will be looking at the lowest possible whole number, which in this case, is 307 paces.
