Well we can do this using substitution since that might be easier

So since y = 2 - 0.5x we can substitute it into x - 2y = 8
That gets us:

x - 2(2 - 0.5x) = 8

Next distribute the -2:

x -4 + x = 8

Combine like terms and solve for x!

2x =  12
x = 6

Now substitute x into any of our y = 2 - 0.5x so we get

y = 2 - 0.5(6)

y = -1

So our answer is (6,-1)
