How should you correct the student’s tense error in the following sentence?

"After he eats lunch, John will go to the laundromat."

This is because "ate" is a past tense verb and "will go" is future tense.  Those two clash, so one needs to be changed.  And the logical choice is changing the "ate" to "eats".  It also just sounds better.
