Yes, I would make a ship with sensors or special software to warn the pilot that there is an excessive weight before taking off. It is not wise to make a law that any stowaways would be jettisoned into space, rather than come up with a way to discover them beforehand. The pilot is right when he realizes that Marylin couldn't be blamed for not knowing the law, as she was just a girl who had never left the Earth before. His decision, to respect the law, is also understandable when one must choose between saving many lives or saving one life.

Which of the following describes a theme of the text? In the Lottery by Shirley Jackson
just olya [345]

Answer:

The correct answer is A. Even if something is cruel, people have the tendency to follow the crowd and participate.

Explanation:

One of the main themes of "The Lottery" is tradition, but understood from an uncritical perspective and the impact of blindly conforming to traditions without questioning them. The consequences of following traditions in The Lottery are cruel and fatal, yet the crowd conforms to it because "it has always been done that way".

Jackson criticises that traditions, especially cruel ones, sould not be blindly perpetuated or followed by the crowd.
