The answer is the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This boycott was brought about by the actions of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. This caused outrage from the African-American community and they took action by refusing to ride the public bus.
This movement spread throughout the Southern states and was organized by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). This organization, lead by Martin Luther King Jr., helped to fight for civil rights all over the southern part of the US.
