The cerebellum is located at the lower area of the rain. It is easily identifiable because of its unique shape. It plays an important role in voluntary movements like walking and writing because it is responsible for balance and coordination.  It receives messages from the sensory systems of the spinal cord and parts of the brain.

The cerebellum is the largest part of the hindbrain that is present <u>posterior part of the skull.</u> It <u>lies at top of the brain stem just below the occipital and temporal lobe</u>. It is divided into two halves or hemispheres. This part is responsible for several functions that include motor skills such as balance and coordination. It is also active in the timing of movement and motor learning.

The cerebellum is the part of the central nervous system. It receives a signal from the sensory system and then regulates the motor movements. <u>It divided into three functional areas namely; cerebrocerebellum (largest part), spinocerebellum and vestibulocerebellum</u>. Cerebrocerebellum helps in controlling the visually guided movement such as running, walking and other muscle movement. Spinocerebellum organizes or regulates the action of the muscle at a particular movement. It is also involved in receiving the proprioceptive information. Vestibulocerebellum helps in creating the balance between the body parts and also regulates the ocular reflexes.
