Okay so to represent juice we are going to use X, and to represent water we are going to use Y.

We also know that the first two starting equations are:

6x + y = 135

4x + 2y = 110

We can re-arrange the first equation so that it equals y (for now), so it is going to end up looking like this:

y = -6x +135

Now you can take that equation and plug into either one of the starting two equations.  I chose the second equation.  We just substitute what y equals in for y in the equation, so we have:

4x + 2(135 - 6x) =  110

Now solve

4x + 270 -12x = 110

-8x + 270 = 110

Subtract 270 from both sides

-8x = -160

Now divide by -8 on both sides

x = 20

We can now confirm that juice costs $20

Now lets plug that into the equation where we solved for y, to get the actual value of y.

y = 135 - 6(20)

y = 135 - 120

y = 15

The price of water costs $15

From this we can conclude that the cost of juice is $20 and the price of water is $15

Carl and rose live in the same straight road. From their balconies they can see a flagpole in the distance. The angle that each

Carl and Rose' balconies make up the base of an isosceles triangle.

Their distances from the flagpole is the same.

From the question, we understand that:

  • Carl and Rose live on a straight line
  • The measure of angle from each person's balcony to the flagpole is the same

The above highlights mean that:

The relationship between Carl and Rose' balconies and the flagpole is an isosceles triangle.

Where Carl and Rose' balconies form the base of the isosceles triangle.

Hence, their distances from the flagpole is the same.

Help with this question, ASAP!! Please, I don't understand!
Leona [35]

Probability is (outcome wanted)/(total possible outcomes). Total possible outcome is the whole area of the rectangle. Which is (18)(12)=216. The outcome wanted is just the area of the triangle. (0.5)(2)(5)=5. Now 5/216=0.02

Please help with geometry
olga_2 [115]

Presumably l and m are parallel, so n and p are transversals across parallel lines.  They'll make the obvious congruent angles and supplementary angles (add to 180 degrees) that presumably the questions will be asking about.

1. Angle 11 and angle 16.   They're what's called vertical angles from a pair of crossing lines.  Vertical angles are congruent, so m∠16 = 113°

2. Angle 1 and 3.  Those are corresponding angles on a traversal of parallels, also congruent.  m∠3 = 78°.  You got this one right, good.

3. 7 & 8.  They're what's called a linear pair, so are supplemental.  180-129=51 so m∠8 = 51°.  You probably just subtracted wrong on this one.

4. 10 & 11.   I forgot what these are called; interior angles or some such.  Anyway they're supplementary so 180-77=103.  m∠11 = 103°

5.  13 & 12.  I forgot the name here too but they're congruent so m∠12 = 59°

6. 2 & 7.  Again congruent so m∠7 = 130°

7.  I don't know why they insist on making geometry into algebra.  Here we have angles 1 & 8, which are congruent, so

5x + 2 = 3x + 28

5x - 4x = 28 - 2

2x = 26

x = 13
