What happened to the French project to build the canal? What was the U.S. role in the Panama Revolution? What were the provisions of the agreement with Panama giving the United States the rights to build the canal? What challenges did the United States encounter during the construction of the canal? What was done to overcome these challenges? As a newspaper reporter, you also believe that your article should include the following information: an explanation of how the canal will benefit the United States; an explanation of how the completion of the canal demonstrates the status of the United States as a world power. Panama Canal is 48-mile international waterway which divides Panama into two parts. The canal allows ships to pass through.

The canal was built to satisfy Americans and British shipping interest which is between the Pacific and Atlantic. The United States acquired this Wake Island in 1899 by annexing Wake Island to serve as a coaling stop for ships and cable station on their way from ports along Japan from the west coast.

The competitor of Panama Canal is Suez Canal and US intermodal system. There were two main challenges which were met in building Panama Canal were tropical diseases such as yellow fever and mountainous terrain.

Mosquitoes which were a result of the diseases were rid of by doctors and the construction continued but many people lost their lives. The U.S was responsible for the construction of Panama Canal under president Theodore Roosevelt Construction expanded the trade because people had shorter routes to reach in different places.
