The anti Imperialism league took a dim view of imperialism which meant they opposed the expansion b/c they believed imperialism violated the credo of Republicanism,especially the need for " consent of the governed."

The Pullman strike ended with widespread violence and the President at the time (Grover Cleveland) sent out the army to stop the strikes from obstructing the trains from running. The Pullman Strike was a boycott which shut down much of the passenger and freight trains west of Detroit because of reduction wages. Many of these workers were laid off and had their wages lowered, but did not have their rent lowered which was essentially unfair, as they all lived in towns for train workers.

Liberal because it presents its opposition to Europe's colonial rule over America. This means that they want to break free from foreign control. The other one is self-serving. <span> Even if they fought for their freedom, they don't want to interfere with other wars that Europe has been in its colonial expansion.</span>
