I know this for a fact because I am an online student, this was a question on my quiz, I used the other member's answer and I got it wrong. However, after submitting my quiz, it gave me the correct answer which is what I said above.
Answer: A. the theory of plate tectonics explains how Continental movement could occur.
Plate tectonics is the scientific theory proposed by scientist Alfred Wegener in 1960. This theory substantiate the fact that the a large landmass got splitted and drifted into continents which were drifted to different locations from the site they were originated. The theory provides the reason for continental drift. It explains the fact that plates (continents) above the earth surface gets split into different subplates (small continents) because of natural effects like volcanoes, mountain formation, earthquakes.
