You need to picture the graph its a parabola and curves from left to right outward forever the x values on a graph are from left to right and are the domain of a function.
The range is all of the y values (up and down) This will change depending on where your vertex is ( the bottom of your graph). You'll need to find the vertex. There is a handy formula to find the axis of symmetry x= -b/2a  This is the line that runs down the middle of your parabola. When you find x, substitute it into the parabola to solve for y. That will be your lowest point if your parabola is positive.  Since yours doesn't' have a b value the axis of symmetry is 0. and your vertex would be 4. so (0,4) is your lowest point. Since its your lowest point and your parabola is pointing up all of your y values (your range, remember?) will be above this including 4 don't forget that. so your range is y≥ 4.

Write the equation of the line that passes through the points (2, -6) and (8, -2).
Inessa [10]
Answer:

y + 6 = 2/3 (x - 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1. Find the slope

m = slope

m = change in y/change in x

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

points: (2, -6) & (8, -2)

m = (-2 - -6)/(8 - 2)

m = 4/6

m = 2/3

Step 2. Create the point-slope equation by using the slope and the first point

Point-slope formula: y - y1 = m(x - x1)
Where m = slope and (x1, y1) = first point

Point-slope form: y + 6 = 2/3 (x - 2)

Answer:

7949.13 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that,

Angle of depression from the spot to the group = 39°

Height of Grand Canyon = 5000 feet.

So, we will get the following figure of a right triangle.

<em>As, 'in a right triangle, the angles and the sides can be written in trigonometric form'.</em>

We get, \sin A=\frac{perpendicular}{hypotenuse}

i.e. \sin 39=\frac{5000}{x}

i.e. x=\frac{5000}{\sin 39}

i.e. x=\frac{5000}{0.629}

i.e. x = 7949.13 feet

Thus, the line of sight distance is 7949.13 feet.
