Let x be the distance walked by Michele

X= distance by Michele
3x = distance by Charity

3x-x=1/2
2x= 1/2
X = 1/4 miles

3x1/4 = 3/4 miles

Therefore, Michele walks 1/4 miles and charity walks 3/4 miles

Hope I helped :)

The polygons above are similar. Write a similarity statement and solve for x. The images are not drawn to scale.
arsen [322]
The correct answer is D) ABCD ~ NMLK, and x=7.

Based on the way the polygons are marked, A corresponds with N, B corresponds with M, C corresponds with L and D corresponds with K. Using this, we set up a proportion:

12/8 = (5x+1)/(5x-11)

Cross multiplying, we have:
12(5x-11) = 8(5x+1)

Using the distributive property,
12*5x - 12*11 = 8*5x + 8*1
60x - 132 = 40x + 8

Subtract 40x from both sides:
60x - 132 - 40x = 40x + 8 - 40x
20x - 132 = 8

Add 132 to both sides:
20x - 132 + 132 = 8+132
20x = 140

Divide both sides by 20:
20x/20 = 140/20
x = 7

A dice game lets you roll 2 6 sided disc and find the sum of the numbers. A 12 wins 100 dollars, 10 or 11 wins 50 dollars, a 2 w
Advocard [28]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

A two 6 sided die is rolled

Sample space would be (1,1)...(1,6)....(6,1)....(6,6)

Let x be the sum obtained

X can take values as 2 or 3 ....12

P(x=12) = P(6,6) =1/36

P(x=10 or 11) = P{(5,5)(5,6) (6,5) (4,6)(6,4)}=5/36

P(2) =P(1,1) = 1/36

For other outcomes no payment

Thus we can list this as

Sum       2     3         4        5      6    7    8     9    10 or 11     12

Prob       1/36                                                            5/36      1/36

Gain        3      0       0        0      0    0    0     0        50         100

E(gain)   3/36  0        0       0       0   0     0    0        250/36   100/36

E(gain) = total= 353/36

Cost of game = 6

E(outcome) = E(gain -6) = E(gain)-6 = 353/36 -6

= 3.806
