Opposite sides of a rectangle have the same length if short side is 150 the opposite side is also 150. total sum = 300 leaving 660 for the 2 longer sides divide 660 by 2 therefor the longer sides are each 330

Answer:

 y = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

There are a number of ways to get there, but the short of it is that a horizontal line has the equation ...

 y = constant

The constant value must be chosen to match the y-value of points on the line. Here, that is 5. The equation of the line is ...

 y = 5

_____

Another way

You can write the equation in slope-intercept form if you know the slope and the y-intercept. The line crosses the y-axis at y = 5, so that is the value of the y-intercept.

The "rise" between the two points is 5 -5 = 0. The "run" between the two points is 5-0 = 5, so the slope is ...

 m = rise/run = 0/5 = 0

Then the slope-intercept equation is ...

 y = mx + b . . . . . where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

 y = 0x +5

Simplifying, we get ...

 y = 5

a rectangle shape whose length is 4 inches less than twice its width. the area is 30 square inches. whats the dimension
Ne4ueva [31]
Using the given information, we can say the following:
Width (W) = x
Length (L) = (2x - 4)
Area of Rectangle = L × W
Using this, we can formulate an equation for rectangle in question:
x(2x - 4) = 30
Expand and move everything to one side:
2x² - 4x - 30 = 0
Simplify by dividing everything on both sides by 2:
x² - 2x - 15 = 0
Factorise:
(x + 5)(x - 3) = 0
Set each factor equal to 0 and solve for x:
x + 5 = 0
x = -5 (a dimension cannot be negative so this is not the solution we want)
x - 3 = 0
x = 3 (this is the solution)
x = W = 3"
L = 2x - 4
L = 2(3) - 4
L = 2"

So, the length the rectangle is 2" and the width is 3"
