Mary Elizabeth Lease (1850-1933) was a lecturer, political activist and author involved with the suffrage movement, the temperance movement and the People's Party (Populists).

After 1874, Lease moved to Wichita, Kansas with her family and in 1888, she began working with the Union Labor Party and then with the People's Party. She was known as a powerful and popular orator and the farmers of Kansas found she could put their frustrations with Wall Street into words. She is credited with causing the agrarian risings in the Midwest through her rhetoric, even though she denied that claim.

The agrarian revolts and her involvement in it became national news, and she was heavily criticized and personally attacked because of her views. Eventually the party distanced themselves from her and the Populist's Party itself was defeated in 1894.

What role did men play in society of ancient Rome?
Yuki888 [10]
The men were the masters of the house and family. During the day they would work outside of the house. If you were a poor man then you would have to start your day early in the morning. You would not have much for breakfast so you would just eat bread. Then for the rest of the day you would either work in a workshop or out in the fields.

If you were a rich man, you would have a big breakfast of bread, cheese, honey, and water. Before leaving for town, you would pray to the household shrine. The rich man's work might consist of writing letters to other Romans, seeing clients, and going to meet other businessman. After lunch you might take a nap, and finish your work for the day. In late afternoon all Roman men went to the public bathes, then went home to enjoy a meal with family and friends.
