A majority of the 118 elements on the periodic table are classified as
defon

Answer:

D. Metals

Out of the 118 elements only about 30% are not made of metal. This can be tested easily if you have household items that have metal in them or some that do not. Additionally you will need a magnet to tell if there is really metal.

If you dilute 125 mL of a 2.5 M solution of Lici to 1.0 L, determine the new
Rama09 [41]

Answer:

0.31M is the new concentration of the solution

Explanation:

The solution is diluted from 125mL to 1.0L = 1000mL. The dilution is of:

1000mL / 125mL = 8 times.

That means the concentration of the diluted solution is 8 times lower than the original solution. That is:

2.5M / 8 times =

0.31M is the new concentration of the solution

How many electrons are involved in one equivalent of oxidation-reduction?
kotegsom [21]

Answer:

1 electron is involved.

Explanation:

Hello,

In redox reactions, when therer's the necessity to know the involved equivalents, they equal the number of transferred electrons, in this case, since one equivalent is stated, one electron is transferred (involved).

Best regards.

For which of the following aqueous solutions would one expect to have the largest van’t Hoff factor (i)? a. 0.050 m NaCl b. 0.50
ira [324]

Answer:

The van't hoff factor of 0.500m K₂SO₄ will be highest.

Explanation:

Van't Hoff factor was introduced for better understanding of colligative property of a solution.

By definition it is the ratio of actual number of particles or ions or associated molecules formed when a solute is dissolved to the number of particles expected from the mass dissolved.

a) For NaCl the van't Hoff factor is 2

b) For K₂SO₄ the van't Hoff factor is 3 [it will dissociate to give three ions one sulfate ion and two potassium ions]

Out of 0.500m and 0.050m K₂SO₄, the van't hoff factor of 0.500m K₂SO₄ will be more.

c) The van't Hoff factor for glucose is one as it is a non electrolyte and will not dissociate.

which has more kinetic energy, a 5-kg object moving at 5 m/s 1 m off the ground or a 5-kg object at rest 2 m off the ground?
irina1246 [14]

Answer:

Explanation:

Kinetic energy is the energy due to changes in position of a body. It is always with regards to motion of a body.

Potential energy on the other hand is the energy at rest of a body.

To estimate kinetic energy, we use the formula:

      K.E =  \frac{1}{2}m v^{2}

where m is the mass of the body and v is the velocity of the object.

mass is 5kg and velocity is 5ms⁻¹

      K.E =  \frac{1}{2}5 x  5^{2}

      K.E = 62.5J

for the object at rest;

    potential energy is calculated:

    P.E = mgh

where m is the mass, g is the acceleration due to gravity and h is the height

m is 5kg, h is 2 and g is 9.8

    P.E = 5 x 9.8 x 2 = 98J

The moving object has kinetic energy with the object at rest having potential energy.
