The correct answer is "sample." ideally these are randomly selected observations as to prevent bias. we can assume the samples that are unaffected by systemic bias represent the population due to rules of the normal distribution.

A portion of the population selected to represent the population is called a sample. A sample should be able to represent the whole population.

EXPLANATION:

In conducting a study or research, researchers will need a sample to represent the whole of the population. It is difficult for researchers to analyze or study the whole population because of the large size of the populations (it consists of many individuals or people), inaccessibility of some of the population, accuracy, and sampling, and destructiveness of the observation. Thus, in order to be able to analyze a huge population, researchers will need a portion of the population selected to represent the population which is called a sample.

There are many benefits to choosing a portion of the population selected to represent the population. Here they are:

• Reducing the cost and time needed to conduct research. Researchers will save more time and money analyzing sample than the whole population.

• Reducing resource deployment. The manpower needed to analyze a sample is less than the manpower needed to analyze the whole population.

• Increasing data accuracy. Data taken from the sample will be more accurate than data taken from the whole population because the sample is more willing to join the research.

• Creating an intensive and exhaustive data. The data taken from a sample will be more intensive and exhaustive because the respondents are minimum.

Here is the meaning of the other options:

Statistical inference is the process of drawing or making the population’s inference based on the given information from the sample. The process includes analyzing the sample data from the sample.

Descriptive statistics is the summaries of data in the form of graphic, tabular, numeric.

A census is a procedure of acquiring and recording information about individuals of a given population. This procedure is done systematically.

slava [35]

Question options :

A. do not need to do experiments to test their ideas.

B.only perform applied research.

C.do not keep records of experiments that fail.

D.often predict the outcome of experiments.

E.cannot predict the outcome of experiments

Answer:

D.often predict the outcome of experiments.

Explanation:

Karl Popper's Imaginative preconception is the idea that one could know or imagine or maybe have a good guess of what the outcome of an experiment would be. In other words a scientist will often hypothesize from observation of what the outcome of an experiment would be without testing and ascertaining truth through experimentation yet. Therefore the scientist combines knowledge and imagination in arriving at the fact or truth in his research or investigations
