Describe the difference between bioprospecting and biopiracy

Biology

Answer:

Explanation:Biodiversity prospecting is the exploration, extraction and screening of biological diversity and indigenous knowledge for commercially valuable genetic and biochemical resources. While it is true that biodiversity prospecting does not always involve the use of indigenous knowledge, it is clear that valuable chemical compounds derived from plants, animals and micro-organisms are more easily identified and are of greatest commercial value when collected with indigenous knowledge and/or found in territories traditionally inhabited by indigenous peoples.

Biopiracy can be defined as the stealing of knowledge from traditional and indigenous communities or individuals. The term can also be used to suggest a breach of a contractual agreement on the access and use of traditional knowledge to the detriment of the provider and bioprospecting without the consent of the local communities. The Action Group on Erosion, Technology and Concentration [ETC group, Canada (former RAFI)] defines it as “the appropriation of the knowledge and genetic resources of farming and indigenous communities by individuals or institutions seeking exclusive monopoly control (usually patents or plant breeders’ rights) over these resources and knowledge”.

Difference between bioprospection and biopiracy

Bioprospection is an attempt to search for new chemical contents in living things, both microorganisms, animals, and plants that have the potential as a drug or other economic benefits <em><u>while</u></em> Biopiracy is the theft of biological resources for the benefit of certain parties and detrimental to other parties

<h2>Further explanation </h2>

From the answers above it can be concluded that bioprospection and biopiracy are the opposite.

Bioprospection can be said to have two different sides. On one hand, the many bioprospecting activities provide opportunities to make human life better. While on the other hand, this activity poses a threat to biodiversity because it provides opportunities for biopiracy.

Biopiracy is often done by parties with advanced technological developments, but do not have enough biological resources for their progress. So developing countries that are rich in biological resources become their main goal. The government and the community may be familiar with the main goals of the developed countries but often cannot hamper the pace of biopiracy.

The solution is:

By making national laws and regulations and international laws. To make bioprospection truly prosperous without worrying about the occurrence of biopiracy, in addition to the drafting of the law, many things must be addressed and considered. Because bioprospection activities should also be subject to various international and national regulations to prevent the occurrence of biopiracy practices.

Lipids are macromolecules which provide insulation.
<span>A macromolecule is a large molecule. There are four groups of macromolecules: carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids and lipids. Lipids consist of glycerol and fatty acids and are constructed from fats, oils, waxes, phospholipids and steroids. A lipid's function is to insulate the body and provide warmth in cold conditions. It can be concluded that a person with very little body fat gets very cold easily and a person with a lot of body fat gets very warm very quickly.

Which diuretic remains effective when creatinine clearance drops below 25 ml/min?
OLga [1]
Loop Diuretics

These are diuretics that exerts effect on the loop of Henle.  They are primarily used in heart failure, hypertension and edema. In contrast with Thiazides, loop diuretics are more  effective in patients with abnormal kidney function. Loop diuretics inhibit the magnesium and calcium reabsorption in the thick ascending limb of Henle. Loop diuretics is highly protein bound. It has volume of distribution that is limited. This causes the diuretics to be secreted in the convuluted tubules  to exert its function.
