A bank wishes to invest a $100, 000 trust fund in three sources: bonds paying 8%; certificates of deposit paying 7%; and first m

ortgages paying 10%. The bank wishes to realize an $8, 000, annual income from the investment. A condition of the trust is that the total amount invested in bonds and certificates of deposit must be triple the amount invested in mortgages. How much should the bank invest in each possible category?

Answer:

It is not possible to make the investment under the given conditions.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x, y and z be the amounts invested in bonds, certificates of deposit and mortgages respectively.

<u>1st equation </u>

<em>“A bank wishes to invest a $100, 000 trust fund in three sources” </em>

x + y + z = 100,000

<u>2nd equation </u>

<em>“The bank wishes to realize an $8, 000, annual income from the investment and bonds paying 8%; certificates of deposit paying 7%; and first mortgages paying 10%” </em>

<em> </em>

0.8x + 0.7y + 0.1z = 8,000

3rd equation

<em>“the total amount invested in bonds and certificates of deposit must be triple the amount invested in mortgages” </em>

<em> </em>

x+y = 3z

and we have a <em>linear system of 3 equations with 3 unknowns </em>

    x +      y +      z = 100,000

0.8x + 0.7y + 0.1z = 8,000

    x +      y      -3z = 0

This system has a unique solution given by

x = -470,000

y = 545,000

z = 25,000

Since x is negative, we deduct there is no way to do such an investment.

Jet001 [13]

Answer:

The mean for the sampling distribution of the sample proportion is 0.29

The standard deviation for the sampling distribution of the sample proportion is 0.01435

Step-by-step explanation:

The mean for the sampling distribution of the sample proportion is always equal to the true population proportion, in this case; p = 0.29

The standard deviation for the sampling distribution of the sample proportion is calculated as;

\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n} }

Using the given values;

p = 0.29

1 - p = 0.71

n = 1000

The standard deviation becomes;

\sqrt{\frac{(0.29)(1-0.29)}{1000} } \\

The s.d becomes 0.01435

Which expression is equivalent to ^
mash [69]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

lets break down 120 to see what it is divisible by and see if any of those numbers are perfect squares.

120/2=60

120/3=40

120/4=30

we can stop there because 4 is a perfect square and 30 can not be reduced any further to produce a perfect square.

do not forget there is only one x so it must stay in side the  radical.

your answer is 2sqrt(30x)

naomi's fish is 40 millimeters long. her guinea pig is 25 centimeters long. how much longer is the guinea pig than her fish
horrorfan [7]
Hi there!

The correct answer is 6.25 times.

This is how you get there:

1) First off, you are going to need to have the same unit (either cm or mm). I used millimeters for this problem. 25cm=250mm

2) This next part is very easy to get wrong. You need to figure out what you are dividing, and by what. Simply look at the problem. <span><em>"How much longer is the guinea pig than her fish?" </em>This shows what numbers you should be getting. The guinea pig is 250mm long, where the fish is only 40. This means that her guinea pig should be larger. 250÷40=6.25

If you did this problem the other way, you would've ended up with .16. If you put the sizes into perspective, you will notice that this is highly unlikely.

I hope that I have been able to simplify this problem for you!
