[ y - 4 = x - 8 ]  is not the equation of the line that goes through
those two points.  The first point  (8, 4)  is on the graph of that
equation, but the second point  (0, 2)  is not.

The slope/intercept equation of the line that passes through
both points  (8, 4)  and  (0, 2)  is

                                          y = 1/4 x + 2 .

The slope/intercept form of   [ y - 4 = x - 8 ]  is

                                          y = x - 4 .

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

the was I understand matrix multiplication, I re-learned tonight so I could be wrong but.....

according to Gaggle    matrix multiplication is possible when the number of columns in matrix 1  equals the number of rows in matrix 2

       it is called the dot product  (that sounds familiar)

first choice has 2 columns  and 1 row              can't multiple this one

second choice has 1 column  and 2 rows        can't multiple this one

third choice has 2 columns  and 1 row             can't multiple this one

fourth choice has 1 column  and 1 row        This one can be multiplied

I cant solve this i need help

Hey!

Here is the equation:

\frac{j}{3} = 4.5

Switch the equation around and it becomes:

4.5 \times 3 = j

The sign changes when moved to the other sign. At first it was (÷) and now it's (×).

Multiply 4.5 by 3 to find j

4.5 \times 3 = 13.5

<em>That means your answer is 13.5</em>

\framebox{j = 13.5}

How does 2^3 work? (keystrokes)
telo118 [61]

Answer:

2^3 = 8

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm not sure what you mean, but I'll try.

2^3 is the same as 2^3,

and it means a multiplication of 3 factors of the base, 2.

That means 2^3 = 2 \times 2 \times 2 = 4 \times 2 = 8

Problem 1
=========
Write an equation for line passing through (8,12) that is perpendicular to
y = (4/3)x - 5

Note:
When two lines are perpendicular, the product of their slopes is -1.

The slope of the given line is 4/3.
Therefore the slope of the perpendicular line is -3/4.
Let the equation of the perpendicular line be
y = -(3/4)x + c
Because the line passes through (8,12), therefore
-(3/4)*8 + c = 12
-6 + c = 12
c = 18
The equation is y = -(3/4)x +18

Answer: y= -\frac{3}{4} x + 18

Problem 2
=========
Write an equation for a line passing through (-30,7) that is perpendicular to
y = -3x - 5.

The perpendicular line will have a slope of 1/3. Let its equation be
y = (1/3)x + c
Because the line passes through (-30,7), therefore
(1/3)*(-30) + c = 7
-10 + c = 7
c = 17
The equation is y = (1/3)x + 17

Answer: y =  \frac{1}{3} x + 17
