In the American Revolutionary War, the British were fighting for themselves against the Americans and, further into the war, the French.
It is good to have because they may be losing in votes but they have to be determined to win and keep trying and pushing to try and win. they can't just give up and let the other person win or they would lose everything that they have just worked for.
In the Spanish Civil War, the Republicans represented the democratically elected government. There was a great conflict between Republicans and Nationalists during the civil war.
I’m not so sure about the north but i know that the south was very angry because they claimed it was an inaccurate depiction of slaveholders. I hope this helps!
