X=16 and y=21.

∠2 and the angle marked 69° are congruent. The wake is a transversal across these parallel lines; ∠2 and the line adjacent to ∠1 will be corresponding angles, so they are congruent; similarly, the angle adjacent to ∠1 is a corresponding angle with the angle marked 69°. This gives us the equation

3x+y=69

Isolating y, we have
y = 69 - 3x

We know that ∠2 and ∠1 are same-side interior angles, so they are supplementary; we also know that ∠2 = 69. This means that ∠1+69 = 180. Using the expression for ∠1, this gives us
3x+3y+69=180

Subtracting 69 from both sides we have
3x+3y=111

Substituting the value for y we isolated earlier, we have
3x+3(69-3x)= 111

Using the distributive property we have
3x+207-9x = 111

Combining like terms,
-6x+207=111

Subtract 207 from both sides:
-6x=-96

Divide both sides by -6:
x = 16

Plug this into the equation we had for ∠2:
y=69-3x
y=69-3(16)
y=69-48
y=21

We know that

angle 69° and angle 1-----> are supplementary angles
so
69+angle 1=180°------> 69°+(3x+3y)=180------> 3x+3y=111----> equation 1

angle 69°=angle 2------> by corresponding angles
so
69=3x+y------> equation 2

using a graph tool
see the attached figure

the solution is
x=16°
y=21°

the answer is
x=16°
y=21°

A college-entrance exam is designed so that scores are normally distributed with a mean of 500 and a standard deviation of 100.
Debora [2.8K]

Answer:

68% of exam scores lie within one std. dev. of the mean

Step-by-step explanation:

Because the standard deviation is 100, one standard deviation above the mean comes out to 600. Likewise, one std. dev. below the mean comes out to 400. By the Empirical Rule, 68% of exam scores lie within one std. dev. of the mean.

Noah's oven thermometer gives a reading that is 2% greater than the actual temperature if the actual temperature is 350°F what w
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

357°F

Step-by-step explanation:

Step one:

given data

actual reading= 350°F

thermometer reading 2% of the actual reading

Step two:

Required:

The thermometer reading

let us find 2% of 350°F

2/100*350°

=0.02*350

=7°F

Hence the thermometer reading is 7°F greater than 350°F

The thermometer reading is 350+7=357°F

To work out the area in m² of material required for a pair of curtains, a seamstress squares the height of the window in m and a
Kisachek [45]

Answer:

a. Area = 1.94m²

b. Area = (p² + 0.5)m²

c. Height = 1.5m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Let H represents Height and A represents Area

From the first and second statements, we have that:

A = H^2 + 0.5

a. Calculating Area When Height = 1.2

A = H^2 + 0.5

Substitute 1.2 for H

A = 1.2^2 + 0.5

A = 1.44 + 0.5

A = 1.94

Hence, the area is 1.94m²

b. Calculating Area When Height = p

A = H^2 + 0.5

Substitute p for H

A = p^2 + 0.5

Hence, the area is (p² + 0.5)m²

c. Calculating Height When Area = 2.75m²

A = H^2 + 0.5

Substitute 2.75 for A

2.75 = H^2 + 0.5

Subtract 0.5 from both sides

2.75 - 0.5 = H^2 + 0.5 - 0.5

2.75 - 0.5 = H^2

2.25 = H^2

Take Square Root of both sides

\sqrt{2.25} = \sqrt{H^2}

\sqrt{2.25} = H

1.5 = H

H = 1.5

Hence, the height is 1.5m
