A regular room at the Great Wolf Lodge is $229.99. You have a discount code to get 20% off of the room rate. The sales tax on th

e hotel rooms is 13%. Find the total cost of the room.
Please explain how to do it. I don't understand how to do it.

229.99*.20 = $46 off
229.99-46 = $183.99
$183.99*.13 =$23.92 sales tax added
183.99+23.92 = $207.91

We'll start with our initial price- $229.99.

First, we'll want to apply our discount code, as you wouldn't want to discount something after taxes. To apply the discount, we will start by multiplying our percent by the original price.

Multiplying by a percent is easy! All we need to do is put the percent over 100, divide the fraction, and our decimal is the value.

\frac{20}{100}= \frac{1}{5}  =0.2

Now that we know our percent can be represented as "0.2," we will multiply 0.2 by our original price.

229.99*0.2= 45.998

As our unit is money, we will round to the nearest hundredth. When we round to the nearest hundredth here, we can see that 20% of 229.99 is $46.00.

We aren't done calculating the discount yet, though! We still need to subtract the "46" from our original price, since we are only getting 20% off, not only paying 20%.

229.99-46.00=183.99

Now that we have our discounted price, we need to add the sales tax to it. Again, we'll need to find our sales tax's value as a decimal.

\frac{13}{100} =0.13

This time, we will multiply the discounted price by "1.13." The first "1" represents the discounted price, and the ".13" afterwards represents the cost of the sales tax.

183.99*1.13=207.9087

Again, we'll need to round to the nearest hundredth, so our "207.9087" becomes "207.91."

With all of the logic above in mind, we can conclude that the cost of the room, after the discount and the sales tax, is $207.91.

Julli [10]

Answer:

0.071,1.928

Step-by-step explanation:

                                                Downtown Store   North Mall Store

Sample size   n                             25                        20

Sample mean \bar{x}                         $9                        $8

Sample standard deviation  s       $2                        $1

n_1=25\\n_2=20

\bar{x_1}=9\\ \bar{x_2}=8

s_1=2\\s_2=1

x_1-x_2=9-8=1

Standard error of difference of means = \sqrt{\frac{s_1^2}{n_1}+\frac{s_2^2}{n_2}}

Standard error of difference of means = \sqrt{\frac{2^2}{25}+\frac{1^2}{20}}

Standard error of difference of means = 0.458

Degree of freedom = \frac{\sqrt{(\frac{s_1^2}{n_1}+\frac{s_2^2}{n_2}})^2}{\frac{(\frac{s_1^2}{n_1})^2}{n_1-1}+\frac{(\frac{s_2^2}{n_2})^2}{n_2-1}}

Degree of freedom = \frac{\sqrt{(\frac{2^2}{25}+\frac{1^2}{20}})^2}{\frac{(\frac{2^2}{25})^2}{25-1}+\frac{(\frac{1^2}{20})^2}{20-1}}

Degree of freedom =36

So, z value at 95% confidence interval and 36 degree of freedom = 2.0280

Confidence interval = (x_1-x_2)-z \times SE(x_1-x_2),(x_1-x_2)+z \times SE(x_1-x_2)

Confidence interval = 1-(2.0280)\times 0.458,1+(2.0280)\times 0.458

Confidence interval = 0.071,1.928

Hence Option A is true

Confidence interval is  0.071,1.928
