Speed=distance/time
S=2/3 mile /8 minutes=1/12 miles/minute

Time=distance /Speed:

Data:
Speed=1/12 miles/ minute
distance=1 mile

Time=1 mile / (1/12 miles/minute)=12 minutes

Answer: 12 minutes.

other method.
By the rule of three:

2/3 miles--------------8 minutes
1 mile-------------------x

x=(1 mile * 8 minutes) /(2/3 miles)=12 minutes.

Answer: 12 minutes.

A cube has an edge of 2 feet. The edge is increasing at the rate of 5 feet per minute. Express the volume of the cube as a funct
Agata [3.3K]

Answer:

V(m) = (2 + 5m)^3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Solid Shape = Cube

Edge = 2 feet

Increment = 5 feet per minute

Required

Determine volume as a function of minute

From the question, we have that the edge of the cube increases in a minute by 5 feet

<em>This implies that,the edge will increase by 5m feet in m minutes;</em>

Hence,

New\ Edge = 2 + 5m

Volume of a cube is calculated as thus;

Volume = Edge^3

Substitute 2 + 5m for Edge

Volume = (2 + 5m)^3

Represent Volume as a function of m

V(m) = (2 + 5m)^3

Answer:

Yes x and y do have a proportional relationship because with every 10 copies of paper the value of y goes up by 1 meaning that it would have a constant rate of change equal to 1/10

mezya [45]
So let's say the amounts are "a" and "b", at 6% and 8% respectively.

how much is 6% of a?  well (6/100) * a, or 0.06a.
how much is 8% of b?  well (8/100) * b, or 0.08b.

so hmm whatever "a" and "b" amounts are, we know that their yield is $100, thus 0.06a + 0.08b = 100.

now, there's more money in "a" than in "b", 500 bucks more, so whatever "b" is, we know that a = b + 500.

\bf \begin{cases}&#10;0.06a+0.08b=100\\&#10;\boxed{a}=b+500\\&#10;----------\\&#10;0.06\left( \boxed{b+500} \right)+0.08b=100&#10;\end{cases}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;0.06b+0.08b+30=100\implies 0.02b=70\implies b=\cfrac{70}{0.02}&#10;\\\\\\&#10;b=3500

how much was deposited in the 6% one?  well, a = b + 500.

chase and sara went to the candy store. chase bought 5 pieces of fudge and 3 pieces of gum for 5.70. sara bought 2 pieces of fud
Vilka [71]
Let, the cost of 1 piece of fudge = x
Cost of a gum = y

System of equations: 5x + 3y = 5.70
2x + 10y = 3.60

Multiply 1st equation by 2, and second by 5,
New equations: 10x + 6y = 11.40
10x + 50y = 18

Now, subtract 1st from 2nd,
44y = 6.60
y = 6.60 / 44
y = 0.15

Substitute it in second equation,
2x + 10(0.15) = 3.60
2x = 3.60 - 1.5
x = 2.10 / 2
x = 1.05

In short, Cost of a Fudge = $1.05 & Cost of a gum = $0.15

Hope this helps!
