<u>Figure - 1</u> :

Let the missing side as " n "

\mathrm{ \triangle DEF    \sim   \triangle DRQ}

Therefore the sides will be proportional,

  • \dfrac{n}{9}  =  \dfrac{4}{12}

  • n =  \dfrac{1}{3}  \times 9

  • n = 3 \:  \: units

<u>Figure - 2</u> :

Let the missing side as " m "

The Triangles are similar, therefore their sides will be proportional.

  • \dfrac{m}{8}  =  \dfrac{9}{6}

  • m =  \dfrac{3}{2}  \times 8

  • m = 3 \times 4

  • m = 12 \:  \: units

What's the length of one leg of a right triangle if the length of the hypotenuse is 25 units and the length of the other leg is
OlgaM077 [116]

the length of the hypotenuse is 25 units and the length of the other leg is 15 units

To find the length of one leg of a right triangle we apply Pythagorean theorem

(one leg)^2 = hypotenuse ^2 - other leg ^2

Let x be the length of one log

hypotenuse = 25

other log = 15

x^2 = 25^2 - 15^2

x^2 = 625 - 225

x^2 = 400

Take square root on both sides

x = 20

The length of one leg = 20 units

susan swims a race in 29 3/10 seconds. Patty swims the race in 33 9/10 seconds. How much faster was susan than patty?
mihalych1998 [28]
Well actually  Patty is faster by 4 6/10 seconds. Since 33 9/10 - 29 3/10 = 4 6/10
