Answer: the speed of the still boat is 14 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the speed of the still boat.

A person travels 8 miles down a stream. Assuming he travels with the current and if the current of the river is 2 mph, it means that the total speed is (x + 2) mph

Time = distance/time

Time spent in travelling with the current is

8/(x + 2)

In the same time they can travel 6 miles upstream. Assuming he travels against the current, it means that the total speed is (x - 2) mph

Time = distance/time

Time spent in travelling against the current is

6/(x - 2) .since the time is the same, then

8/(x + 2) = 6/(x - 2)

Cross multiplying, it becomes

8(x - 2) = 6(x + 2)

8x - 16 = 6x + 12

8x - 6x = 12 + 16

2x = 28

x = 28/2

x = 14

ronaldo delivers the papers at the rate of 6 papers in 24 minutes. how much longer would it take him to deliver 56 papers than 4
UkoKoshka [18]

We are given

Ronaldo delivers the papers at the rate of 6 papers in 24 minutes

so, number of papers =6 in time =24 minutes

so, firstly we can find rate

rate = ( number of papers)/( time taken)

r=\frac{6}{24} =\frac{1}{4}

now, we can find times

Time for 56 papers:

we are given

number of papers =56

rate is

r=\frac{1}{4}

now, we can find time

t_1=\frac{56}{r}

t_1=\frac{56}{\frac{1}{4}}

t_1=224min

Time for 41 papers:

we are given

number of papers =41

rate is

r=\frac{1}{4}

now, we can find time

t_2=\frac{41}{r}

t_2=\frac{41}{\frac{1}{4}}

t_2=164min

now, we can find time difference

t=t_1-t_2

so, we can plug values

t=224-164

t=60 min..............Answer

Let's say Jose deposited $2,700 into a CD account with an Annual Percentage Rate
sergey [27]

Answer:

$3283.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Principal= $2700

Rate= 4%

Time= 5 years

Required

the final Amount A

The compound interest formula is

A=P(1+r)^t

Substitute

A=2700(1+0.04)^5

A=2700(1.04)^5

A=2700*1.216

A=$3283.2

Hence the balance in the account after 5 years is $3283.2
