First thing you should do is reduce coefficients.

1st equation has all multiples of '2'. Divide by 2
---> x +3y = -6

2nd equation has multiples of 5. Divide by 5.
---> x - y = 2

Now elimination part is easier.
Eliminate 'x' variable by subtracting 2nd equation from 1st.

   x + 3y = -6
-(x  - y = 2)
----------------------
       4y  = -8

Solve for 'y'
4y = -8

y = (-8)/4 = -2

Substitute value for 'y' back into 2nd equation:
x - (-2) = 2
x + 2 = 2
x = 0

Solution to system is:
x=0, y =-2

Graph an inequality on a number line: 15>m
barxatty [35]

When the sign is ≤ or ≥ ("less/greater than <u>or equal to</u>"), the dot if filled in.

When the sign is < or >, the dot is not filled in/open circle.

15 > m

[15 is greater than m, or m is less than 15]

Since m is less than 15, the arrow is going to the left (the numbers to the left are less than 15)

What is the common difference for this arithmetic sequence?
MaRussiya [10]

Common difference of the arithmetic sequence, is

d=a_{n} - a_{n-1}

d = a_{2} -a_{1} = 48-31=17 \\ \\d= a_{3} -a_{2} = 65 - 48= 17 \\ \\ d= a_{4} -a_{3}= 82-65=17 \\ \\ Answer:\ D.17.

Find all values of c in the open interval (a, b) such that f'(c)=(f(b)-f(a))/(b-a)
timama [110]
<h3>Answer:   c = 7/4</h3>

================================================

Work Shown:

Compute the function value at the endpoints

f(x) = \sqrt{4-x}\\\\f(-5) = \sqrt{4-(-5)} = 3\\\\f(4) = \sqrt{4-4} = 0\\\\

With a = -5 and b = 4, we have

f'(c) = \frac{f(b)-f(a)}{b-a}\\\\f'(c) = \frac{f(4)-f(-5)}{4-(-5)}\\\\f'(c) = \frac{0-3}{9}\\\\f'(c) = -\frac{1}{3}\\\\

So,

f(x) = \sqrt{4-x}\\\\f'(x) = -\frac{1}{2\sqrt{4-x}}\\\\f'(c) = -\frac{1}{3}\\\\-\frac{1}{2\sqrt{4-c}} = -\frac{1}{3}\\\\

Use algebra to solve for c

-\frac{1}{2\sqrt{4-c}} = -\frac{1}{3}\\\\\frac{1}{2\sqrt{4-c}} = \frac{1}{3}\\\\3 = 2\sqrt{4-c}\\\\2\sqrt{4-c} = 3\\\\\sqrt{4-c} = \frac{3}{2}\\\\4-c = \frac{9}{4}\\\\c = 4-\frac{9}{4}\\\\c = \frac{16-9}{4}\\\\c = \frac{7}{4}\\\\

What is the range of the function y=square root x+5 ?
Ne4ueva [31]

Answer:

  all non-negative real numbers, [0, ∞)

Step-by-step explanation:

Replacing x in the parent function √x with (x+5) shifts the graph horizontally, but has no effect on the vertical extent of the graph. It still ranges from 0 to +∞.

The range of √(x+5) is [0, ∞).
