What are the three important functions of the atmosphere ?
Shkiper50 [21]

The atmosphere protects life on earth by shielding it from incoming ultraviolet (UV) radiation, keeping the planet warm through insulation, and preventing extremes between day and night temperatures.

What is the atmosphere?

An atmosphere is the layers of gases surrounding a planet or other celestial body.

The three important functions of the atmosphere are:

1. The atmosphere protects life on earth by preventing it from incoming ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

2. The atmosphere keeps the planet warm through the insulation effect.

3. The atmosphere maintains extremes between day and night temperatures.

4. What is the overall nuclear fusion reaction in the Sun? Briefly describe the proton–proton chain.
Pachacha [2.7K]

Nuclear fusion is the source of all energy the Sun releases into space. The Sun fuses hydrogen at a steady rate, thanks to a natural feedback process that acts as a thermostat for the Sun's interior (p-p chain). Solar energy production remains steady because the rate of nuclear fusion is very sensitive to temperature.

Nuclear fusion

When two or more atomic nuclei join, one or more new atomic nuclei and subatomic particles are created. This reaction is known as nuclear fusion (neutrons or protons). Energy is released or absorbed depending on how much mass the reactants and products have in common.

The atomic nuclei before and after the reaction had different nuclear binding energies, which is how this difference in mass developed. Active or main sequence stars, along with other high-magnitude stars, are powered by nuclear fusion, which releases enormous amounts of energy. Energy will often be released during nuclear fusion that creates atomic nuclei lighter than iron-56 or nickel-62. Both their mass and nucleon binding energy are relatively high for these elements.

How many atoms of Oxygen (O) are there in the products of the following equation:
jasenka [17]

Answer:

We can say, there are 4 mol of oxygen with (4 . NA) = 2.40ₓ10²⁴ atoms

Or just, 4 atoms oxygen.

Explanation:

CH₄  +  2O₂  →  CO₂  +  2H₂O

1 mol of methane reacts with 2 mol of oxygen to produce 1 mol of carbon dioxide and 2 mol of water.

We count in 1 mol of CO₂, we have 2 mol of oxygen

In 2 mol of water, we have 2 mol of oxygen.

We can say, there are 4 mol of oxygen with (4 . NA) = 2.40ₓ10²⁴ atoms

Or just, 4 atoms oxygen.

Have heat waves ever affected the world in a way? Explain.
lubasha [3.4K]

Answer: Yes, they have.

Explanation: The frequency, severity, and length of heat waves are increasing. Heat and humidity already kill an average of 1,300 people in the U.S. each year. Deadly heat waves of at least 20 days affect 30% of the earth's population. That will increase to 75% by 2100 if global warming isn't stopped.

Determina el pH del café cuya concentración de H+ es de 0.00001M
lara31 [8.8K]

Answer:

5

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Hydrogen ion concentration  =  0.00001M

Unknown:

pH of the solution =?

Solution:

The pH is used to estimate the degree of acidity or alkalinity of a solution. To solve for pH of any solution, we use the expression below;

          pH  = -log [H⁺]

[H⁺] is the hydrogen ion concentration

        pH  = -log (1 x 10⁻⁵)

      pH = -(-5) = 5
