Which excerpt from "The Masque of the Red Death" best shows Prince Prospero’s self-centeredness? It was in the eastern or blue c

hamber in which stood the Prince Prospero as he uttered these words. They rang throughout the seven rooms loudly and clearly, for the prince was a bold and robust man, and the music had become hushed at the waving of his hand. It was then, however, that the Prince Prospero, maddening with rage and the shame of his own momentary cowardice, rushed hurriedly through the six chambers, while none followed him on account of a deadly terror that had seized upon all. When the eyes of the Prince Prospero fell upon this spectral image (which, with a slow and solemn movement, as if more fully to sustain its role, stalked to and from among the waltzers) he was seen to be convulsed, in the first moment with a strong shudder either of terror or distaste; but, in the next, his brow reddened with rage. But the Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless and sagacious. When his dominions were half depopulated, he summoned to his presence a thousand hale and light-hearted friends from among the knights and dames of his court, and with these retired to the deep seclusion of one of his castellated abbeys.

The beginning refers to the incentive moment and begins the cause-and effect chain of events. It is similar to striking a match and lighting the fuse.

The middle or climax, must be caused by earlier events and in turn cause the events that follow.

The resolution or end must be the result of the events in the story, but it cannot introduce new events outside the scope of the story.

Answer:

b) by noticing how the character interacts with other characters

c) by noticing details about what the character says, does, and thinks

d) by noticing how the other characters perceive the character

e) by noticing the context, and use it to make inferences about the character

Explanation:

Indirect characterization is a technique used in writing to convey information about a character without directly revealing those qualities. Instead of describing a character directly, the author shows what that character is like through what that character says, thinks, looks like, and how other characters react to that character.

irina [24]

Answer:

D. a cultural pressure on women to devote more time, energy, and money to raising their kids.

Explanation:

In her book, Hays tracks down how the ideology of intensive motherhood has evolved with the passing of time, which implies that an individual mother's main responsibility is to raise her child and indicates the process should be focused on the kid, guided by experts, emotionally absorbing, and demanding in both labor and money.
