Which equation and variable would be easiest to solve for in order to solve the system by substitution? y + x = 3 5x + 3y = -1
notsponge [240]

Answer:

Use y + x = 3 and solve for either x or y.

Step-by-step explanation:

Substitution is a method to solve a system of equations by substituting an expression from one equation into the other.

To begin, first solve one equation by isolating for one variable. Choose the equation which will have the least number of steps to do so.

y + x = 3 can be solve for x or y by subtracting the other variable. Since this only requires one step use this equation. Either variable can be used.

Given the side measures below determine whether or not triangle is acute right or obtuse 12 9 13
nordsb [41]
Hi there!

Let's use the pythagorean theorem to figure this out.

WORK:
{12}^{2}  +  {9}^{2}  =  {13}^{2}
144 + 81 = 169
225 > 169
The triangle is ACUTE.

Hope this helps!! :)

Danny, Pedro, Derick, Jose, and Willy went to a soccer game. They each got a $3-off coupon to buy themselves a ticket to the gam
kondor19780726 [428]
I think it’s 22.4
the total is 37 then divided by 5 for each person. after you divide you add the $3 coupon so for each person would be 3 by 5 to equal 15. so 37 divided by 5 is 7.4 and then add 15 to get 22.4. If this is wrong please correct me :)

Irrational numbers can never be precisely represented in decimal form. why?
Rus_ich [418]
Because irrational numbers are unpredictable. for example, you can write 0.25 in a fraction (1/4) because 1/4 is 1 divided by 4 which is 0.25. But you can never divide 2 numbers to get a decimal that never ends

A dilation has center (0,0). Find the image of the point B ( 5/3, -7/2) for the scale factor 1/3
EastWind [94]
<h3>Answer:   (5/9,  -7/6)</h3>

=======================================================

Explanation:

Since the center of dilation is (0,0), we multiply each coordinate of point B by the scale factor 1/3.

The coordinates of point B are x = 5/3 and y = -7/2

So we have

(1/3)*x = (1/3)*(5/3) = (1*5)/(3*3) = 5/9 as the new x coordinate

and

(1/3)*y = (1/3)*(-7/2) = (1*(-7))/(3*2) = -7/6 as the new y coordinate

The point (5/3, -7/2) moves to (5/9,  -7/6)
