The process by which animals and plants obtain energy are different because animals get energy from eating food and plants get energy from sunlight.

Plant get it because they collect energy from the sun and use carbon dioxide and water in the process called photosynthesis to produce sugars.

AND

Animals get it because Animals can make use of the sugars provided by the plants and they can also eat meat or plants to get energy from them so that means when you eat food animals get energy.

ANSWER:- Plants get energy from sun.

                   Animals get energy from food.
