<u>Answer-</u>

The corresponding height of the parallelogram is \dfrac{27}{5} units

<u>Solution-</u>

Hint- The perpendicular distance between the point S and the straight line RU is the length of the height of the parallelogram.

Equation of RU-

Applying two point formula between (4, 5), (1, 1)

\Rightarrow \dfrac{y-y_1}{y_2-y_1}=\dfrac{x-x_1}{x_2-x_1}

\Rightarrow \dfrac{y-5}{1-5}=\dfrac{x-4}{1-4}

\Rightarrow \dfrac{y-5}{-4}=\dfrac{x-4}{-3}

\Rightarrow \dfrac{y-5}{4}=\dfrac{x-4}{3}

\Rightarrow 3(y-5)=4(x-4)

\Rightarrow 3y-15=4x-16

\Rightarrow 4x-3y-1=0

Perpendicular distance between S and RU-

The distance d from a point (x₀, y₀) to the line ax+by+c=0 is

d=\dfrac{|ax_0+by_0+c|}{\sqrt{a^2+b^2}}

Distance of (7, 0) from line 4x-3y-1=0 is,

d=\dfrac{|(4)(7)+(-3)(0)+(-1)|}{\sqrt{(4)^2+(-3)^2}}

=\dfrac{|28-1|}{\sqrt{16+9}}

=\dfrac{|27|}{\sqrt{25}}

=\dfrac{27}{5}

Write a linear function to describe the sequence. Explain your function. The first 5 terms of an arithmetic sequence are shown.
zimovet [89]

Answer:

The linear function is;

Tn-1 = Tn + 3

What this mean is that to get the term before the present term, we add 3 to the present term

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we want to write a liner function to describe the function

As we can see from the numbers listed,

the next term is simply obtained by deducting 3 from the previous term

We can write this as:

Tn-1 = Tn + 3

Where Tn is the next term and Tn-1 is the previous term

What the function is saying is that to get the term before the present term, we add 3 to the present term

1. The number a is 4/5 of the number b. What part of number a is number b?
alexdok [17]
Writing some equations out might help!

1) You know that a is 4/5 of b. This can be written as:a =  \frac{4}{5} b.
To find what b is equal to, multiply both sides by 5/4: \frac{5}{4}a = b.
A is 5/4 B.

2) You know that a is 1/5 smaller than b. This can be written as: a = b - \frac{1}{5}.
To find b, just add 1/5 to both sides: a +  \frac{1}{5} = b.
B is 1/5 bigger than a.
