Let's say the length is L, and the width is W
L is one foot more than 2W, so L=1+2W
the area of the rectangle: A=L*W=300
replace L with 1+2W: (1+2W)*W=300 =>2W^2+W-300=0
solve the quadratic equation: (W-12)(2W+25)=0
W=12 or W=-12.5 (impossible)
so the width is 12, and the length is L=1+2*12=25

Answer:

Width of rectangle = 12 feet

Length of rectangle = 25 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

Let x be the width of the rectangle.

We are given that:

\text{Length} = 2\times \text{Width} + 1\\\text{Length} = 2x +1

Area of rectangle = 300 square foot

Formula:

\text{Area of rectangle} = \text{Length}\times \text{Width}

Putting the values, we get,

300 = x\times (2x +1)\\300 =2 x^2 + x\\2x^2 + x -300 = 0

We use the quadratic formula to solve this quadratic equation:

ax^2 + bx + c = 0\\\\x = \displaystyle\frac{-b\pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

Using the quadratic formula:

2x^2 + x -300 = 0\\\\x = \displaystyle\frac{-1 \pm \sqrt{1+2400}}{4} = \displaystyle\frac{-1 \pm 49}{4}\\\\x = 12,\frac{-25}{2}

Considering the positive value of x

Width of rectangle = 12 feet

Length of rectangle = 2x + 1 = 25 feet

Using the slope and the y-intercept graph the line represents by the following equation then select the correct graph 2y + 4 =0
dybincka [34]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

2y + 4 = 0               <em>subtract 4 from both sides</em>

2y = -4       <em>divide both sides by 2</em>

y = -2

The slope-intercept form of an equation of a line:

y = mx + b

m<em> - slope</em>

b<em> - y-intercept → (0, </em><em>b</em><em>)</em>

In the equation

y = -2

<em>slope: </em><em>m = 0</em>

<em>y-intercept: </em><em>b = -2 → (0, -2)</em>

<em />

<em>y = -2 - it's a horizontal line</em>

Masteriza [31]

Answer:

The proportions differ from those reported in the survey.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Chi-square goodness of fit test would be used to determine whether the proportions differ from those reported in the survey.

The hypothesis for the test can be defined as follows:

<em>H</em>₀: The proportions does not differ from those reported in the survey.

<em>Hₐ</em>: The proportions differ from those reported in the survey.

Assume that the significance level of the test is, α = 0.01.

The Chi-square test statistic is given by:

\chi^{2}=\sum\limits^{n}_{i=1}{\frac{(O_{i}-E_{i})^{2}}{E_{i}}}

Consider the Excel sheet provided.

The Chi-square test statistic value is 191.32.

The <em>p</em>-value of the test is:

p-value=P(\chi^{2}_{(n-1)}>191.32)\\\\=\text{CHISQ.DIST.RT}(191.32,2)\\\\=0.0000

The <em>p</em>-value of the test is very small. The null hypothesis will be rejected at 1% level of significance.

Thus, concluding that the proportions differ from those reported in the survey.

louis makes a$15 [er hour working at the mall. which equation represents the total amout of money, d, louis makes in h hours?
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

15H = D

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that Louis makes $ 15 per hour working at the mall, to determine which equation represents the total amout of money, D, Louis makes in H hours, the following calculation must be performed:

15H = D

So, for example, if Louis worked 10 hours, the equation would operate as follows:

15 x 10 = D

150 = D
