On Saturday, January 5, 1895, Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish Army officer naturally indicted for treachery, got ready in the center of attention in the parade ground of the École Militaire in Paris.

Encompassed by 5,000 troops, first the buttons that were on his tunic were removed, then the stripes of his pants were removed, and then point the badge on his top and his sleeve; his sword, at long last, was broken in two.

Dreyfus was discovered blameworthy and was found guilty in court military. He was then deprived of his of armed force rank.
