How could you calculate each product? Describe the strategy you would use. Then calculate.
VashaNatasha [74]
Hey there!

1. To solve 9 x 5 , I could add the number 9 five times . . .

9 + 9 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 45

9 x 5 = 45 <----

2. I would use the same strategy as the first one, except add the number 8 five times . . .

8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 40

8 x 5 = 40 <----

Hope this helps you.

Find the length of the side of rhoumbus whose diagonals are of length 6cm and 8cm.
Artist 52 [7]

Answer:

In a rhombus, the diagonals bisect at right angles. That means half the diagonals form a right angle triangle then we can try the Pythagorean theorem. so -

one side of triangle =  6/2 =3 (half of the diagonal)

other side = 8/2 = 4

a^2 + b^2 = c2

3 ^2 + 4^2 = c^2

9+16 = c^2

c^2=25

c = \sqrt{25} = 5

the hypothenus forms one side of the rhombus and here the hypothenus is 5, so the lenght of a side is 5 !

The graph of the function P(x) = −0.52x2 + 23x + 92 is shown. The function models the profits, P, in thousands of dollars for a
elena-14-01-66 [18.8K]

Answer:

6.84 ≤ x ≤ 37.39

Step-by-step explanation:

we have

P(x)=-0.5x^2+23x+92 -----> equation A

we know that

The company wants to keep its profits at or above $225,000,

so

PXx)\geq 225 -----> inequality B

Remember that P(x) is in thousands of dollars

Solve the system by graphing

using a graphing tool

The solution is the interval [6.78,39.22]

see the attached figure

therefore

A reasonable constraint for the model is

6.84 ≤ x ≤ 37.39

The difference in age between Brita and her daughter Eva is 30 years. The sum or their ages 118. How old is Eva?
Alona [7]

Answer:

Eva's age is 44 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x ----> Brita's age

y ----> Eva's age

we know that

The sum or their ages 118

so

x+y=118 ----> equation A

The difference in age between Brita and her daughter Eva is 30 years

so

x-y=30 ----> equation B

Solve the system by elimination

Adds equation A and equation B

x+y=118\\x-y=30\\---------\\x+x=118+30\\2x=148\\x=74

<em>Find the value of y</em>

substitute the value of x in any equation

74+y=118\\y=118-74\\y=44

therefore

Eva's age is 44 years
