The Zhou dynasty was located west of the Shang dynasty. The two rivers located in the Zhou dynasty were the Chang River and the Huang River. And idk the last one sorry‍♀️

The North did not need slaves very much anyway because of their agrictural. But, the South didn't want ot give in slavery because they had many plantations and large amounts of land. Which they could not mantain by themselves. Also a compromise for example is Compromise of 1850. It was supposed to take in fugitive or runaway slaves. In the compromise the North was supposed to help the South capture their slaves back because many were running away.
