Fugitive Slave Act increased tensions because all escaped slaves must be returned to their masters and citizens of free states had to cooperate in this law. Citizens of North states, slaves and a<span>bolitionists </span>were unsatisfied with this act because slavery was still common in South states.

The French government used force against its own people because of the revolution that occurred there. A revolution is an over throw of the government within the country by its citizens. During a revolution force is used by the government to prevent the over throw of its leadership. The French Revolution occurred from 1789 - 1799. One of the reasons that the French Revolution started was as a result of expensive spending by King Louis XVI, which brought the country near bankruptcy. Some issues that arose from this was food shortage, rising food prices and unemployment. The citizens was disatisfied and began the revolution.
The fugitive slave act of 1793 authorized local governments to recapture escaped slaves and imposed laws restricting the aiding of runaway slaves. This act was provised in 1850 “compromise of 1850” forcing locals to aid in the capturing of slaves and denied the right of slaves to have a trial by jury. The aiding of escaped slaves was also punished more than in the first act
