You are a population geneticist and you have recently visited a remote pacific island where you have discovered a race of giant

purple-skinned, seven-toed, three-horned dragons. in examining the new race you have discovered that a small number of the dragons have only six toes as opposed to seven and it seems to be genetically inherited trait. after a population survey, you have found that in a population of 1,378 dragons, 174 of them have only six toes. assuming the six-toed organisms are carrying a recessive trait, calculate the gene frequencies and the percentage of homozygous dominant, heterozygous, and recessive individuals on the island

Use the Hardy Weinburg equation of allelic frequency.

P2+2pq+q2=1

174/1378 = 0.126 = q2

Therefore q2 = 0.126; q = 0.355

If q = 0.355 and we understand that p + q = 1, then

P = 1 – 0.355 = 0.645

To find homozygous dominant population (p2);

(0.645)2 x 1378 = 0.416 x 1378 = 573

Heterozygous popualiton (2pq);

(2 x 0.645 x 0.355) x 1378 = 0.458 x 1378=  631

Recessive indviduals (q2) =  174

Prophase has a series of checkpoints that determine whether a cell will undergo all stages of mitosis. true or false
Black_prince [1.1K]
The answer is false. All cells that had undergo in the beginning of mitosis, will be undergoing to the whole stages of mitosis. Mitosis is the part of the cell cycle, wherein it results into equally distributed chromosomes and separated two new nuclei. Typically there are five stages of Mitosis.

In a biological reaction involving an enzyme, what does the substrate bind to? the active site of another substrate the inactive
alexandr402 [8]

Answer: The part of the enzyme where the substrate binds is called the active site (since that's where the catalytic “action” happens). ... Thanks to these amino acids, an enzyme's active site is uniquely suited to bind to a particular target—the enzyme's substrate or substrates—and help them undergo a chemical reaction. To catalyze a reaction, an enzyme will grab on (bind) to one or more reactant molecules. These molecules are the enzyme's substrates. In some reactions, one substrate is broken down into multiple products. ... The products then leave the active site of the enzyme.

What is a benefit of using bioenergy over nuclear energy?
Dmitry [639]

Answer:

O Bioenergy does not release harmful greenhouse gasses.

Explanation:

Nuclear energy might not releases as much greenhouse gasses as fossil fuels do but it still releases some. Bioenergy produces energy by using 100% natural elements whereas nuclear energy does not.
