(5 - 3i) - (4 + 6i)      Remove the brackets. Be careful with those on the right.
5 - 3i - 4 - 6i            Did you notice how the second set worked. That - sign affected both terms inside the brackets. Now collect your like terms.

5 - 4 - 3i - 6i   The - 3i and - 6i  act like money. You are three dollars in the hold and you spend another 6. Where does that put you ?
1 - 9i              You are now 9 dollars in the whole.

Identify each function that has a remainder of -3 when divided x+6
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

According to remainder theorem, you can know the remainder of these polynomials if you plug in x = -6 into them.

<em>So we will plug in -6 into x of all the polynomials ( A through D) and see which one equals -3.</em>

<em />

<em>For A:</em>

x^5 + 2x^2 - 30x + 30\\=(-6)^5 + 2(-6)^2 - 30(-6) + 30\\=-7494

For B:

x^4 + 4x^3 - 21x^2 - 53x + 12\\=(-6)^4 + 4(-6)^3 - 21(-6)^2 - 53(-6) + 12\\=6

For C:

x^3 - 10x^2 - 7\\=(-6)^3 - 10(-6)^2 - 7\\=-583

For D:

x^4 + 6x^3 - 10x - 63\\=(-6)^4 + 6(-6)^3 - 10(-6) - 63\\=-3

The only function that has a remainder of -3 when divided by x + 6 is the fourth one, answer choice D.

How many complex roots does the equation below have?<br><br> x^6+x^3+1=0
gogolik [260]
Here, x⁶ + x³ + 1 = 0
Now, Let, x³ = u
Then, x⁶ = u²

So, u² + u + 1 = 0
We know, b² - 4ac = 1² - 4(1)(1) = 1 - 4 = -3

<span>which is negative u has two complex roots.
So there are two complex values x</span>³.
Again, There are 3 complex cube roots of each of those two complex roots for u.

In short, Your Answer would be 3*2 = 6 Complex roots

Hope this helps!
