Everyone needs protection. However, women and children that can't protect then self ageist an abusive person or family member need help whenever and wherever they can get it. It is hard to leave that kind of life if that is all you have ever known. To go out on your own and to be on your own is hard for anyone but for someone that has been talked down to all their lives can't do it. I'm just saying that help the people that you think that need it the most. Try to see if from their view don't just jump to concoctions, life is hard but you never know what is coming next for anyone.

Simile and imagery

Hughes is using simile in this poem to compare what happens when you put off dreams. He compares deferred dreams to things with very strong sensory imagery like drying up "like a raisin in the sun" or stinking "like rotten meat". These details help the reader understand the heavy impact of what will happen if you put your dreams on hold.
