Answer:

1.625

Explanation:

Debt to equity ratio = Debt ÷ Equity

or

1.75 = Debt ÷ Equity

or

Debt = 1.75 × Equity

also,

Total assets = Debt + Equity

or

$275 million = 1.75 × Equity + Equity

or

$275 million = 2.75 × Equity

or

Equity = $100 million

Therefore,

Debt = $275 million - Equity

= $275 million -  $100 million

= $175 million

Now,

after issuance,

Total debt = $175 million + $20 million

= $195 million

and,

Equity = $100 million + $20 million

= $120 million

Therefore,

Southern’s debt-to-equity ratio after the issuance

= $195 million ÷ $120 million

= 1.625

Calla Company produces skateboards that sell for $68 per unit. The company currently has the capacity to produce 95,000 skateboa
Alenkasestr [34]

Answer:

since the special order does not affect current normal sales, its analysis should only consider incremental expenses, not regular expenses:

A) Income statement without the special order

total revenue = $68 x 80,100 = $5,446,800

- COGS                                     = ($2,446,880)

  • Direct materials $897,120
  • Direct labor $608,760
  • Overhead $941,000

gross profit                               = $2,999,920

- SG&A                                      = ($1,022,000)

  • Selling exp. $559,000
  • Administrative exp. $463,000

net income                               = $1,977,920

B) incremental revenue from special order = 14,900 x $63 = $938,700

incremental costs:

  • direct materials = ($897,120 / 80,100 units) x 17,900 = $200,480
  • direct labor = ($608,760 / 80,100 units) x 17,900 = $136,040
  • overhead = ($658,700 / 80,100 units) x 17,900 = $147,200
  • selling expenses = [($335,400 / 80,100 units) x 17,900] + ($2.70 x 17,900) = $74,952 + $48,330 = $123,282
  • administrative expenses = $940
  • total incremental costs = $607,942

incremental gain from special order = $938,700 - $607,942 = $330,758

Income statement with the special order

total revenue                            = $6,385,500

- COGS                                     = ($2,930,600)

  • Direct materials $1,097,600
  • Direct labor $744,800
  • Overhead $1,088,200

gross profit                               = $3,454,900

- SG&A                                      = ($1,146,222)

  • Selling exp. $682,282
  • Administrative exp. $463,940

net income                               = $2,308,678

Sandra Morris is presently leasing a small business computer from Eller Office Equipment Company. The lease requires 10 annual p
Andre45 [30]

Answer: a. $73,810.88

b. $10,185.18

Explanation:

a. The payments of $11,000 are constant so this can be considered an Annuity.

The cost of the Computer is it's present value which is,

Present Value of Annuity = Annuity Payment * Present Value Interest Factor of Annuity, 11%, 10 periods

= 11,000 * 6.71008 (Payment is made at the end of the year so this is an Ordinary Annuity)

= $73,810.88

b. When an Annuity is instead paid at the beginning of the period it is considered to be an Annuity due.

The formula is the same but for the figures ,

Present Value of Annuity Due = Annuity * Present Value Interest Factor of an Annuity Due, 11% , 10 periods

73,810.88 = Annuity * 7.24689

Annuity = 73,810.88/7.24689

= $10,185.18

ollegr [7]

Answer: Social media allows companies to have a short-term focus.

Explanation:

Social Media has made the world way more connected than it was before even with the advent of the Internet. As such, companies were able to leverage on this to improve their brand and popularity by being present on the various social media platforms.

With social media, companies have been able to marketers to establish a public voice and presence online, cost-effectively reinforce other communication activities, build online forums and communities as well as remain relevant in a fast changing world.

Companies having a short term focus as a result of social media <em>is not a benefit</em> of social media. A company should always think long term and even social media can help them achieve long term growth if long term marketing plans are integrated with social media marketing.
