What is chief kabongo of the kikuyu in kenya view on imperialism?

History

Chief Kabongo was not aware of the British occupation that was occurring in Africa between the years, 1890-1907. Relationships between the English and the different native tribes of East Africa did not remain civil for long. A lot of African blood was shed during the British occupation.

When a strange man came to talk to the council of Chief Kabongo's tribe of Kikuyu, he had told them that they have a new king. This statement confused the Chief because in their tribe there was no concept of a king, but instead they voted their councils who will make the laws of the tribe. The pink cheek man, as he described it, insisted otherwise that they have a king now which they will follow.

Chief Kabongo had no concept of imperialism. He was confused about the idea of getting orders from an unknown man. He made the tribe's elders explain their way of life but the British man insisted their ways. In a sense, they were taken advantage because the colonists taught they were too ignorant to understand.

How does studying History encourage critical thinking?
MrRissso [65]
Critical thinking can be encouraged and developed in teaching history at the secondary level. The issue is important because students often demonstrate apathy and boredom while history is considered worthless and useless because students just memorize accepted, dry, and dead facts.
