A given bacteria culture initially contains 2500 bacteria and doubles every half hour. The number of bacteria p at a given time

t is given by the formula p(t)=2500ekt for some constant k. (You will need to find k to answer the following.) (a) Find the size of the bacterial population after 50 minutes. (b) Find the size of the bacterial population after 8 hours.

After half hour=30 min you have 2×2500=5000 bacteria so you can use this into your equation to write:
5000=2500 e^{30k}
and:
e^{30t}= \frac{5000}{2500}=2
Apply the natural logarithm ln to both sides and get:
30t=ln(2)
so k=0.0231 in units of \frac{1}{min}
so your equation is now:
p(t)=2500 e^{0.0231t}
1] it t= 50 min substituting you get:
p(50)=2500 e^{0.0231*50}=7935 bacteria
2] if t= 8 h = 480 min you get:
p(480)=2500 e^{0.0231*480}=1.6* 10^{8} bacteria

A survey was taken of 49 people to see if they watch basketball and/or soccer games on television. The results are shown in the
emmasim [6.3K]

Answer:

\begin{array}{cccc}&\text{Watch basketball}&\text{Don't watch basketball}&\text{Total}\\\text{Watch soccer}&7&12&19\\\text{Don't watch soccer}&17&13&30\\\text{Total}&24&25&49\end{array}

Step-by-step explanation:

From the diagram you can see that

  • 17 people watch only basketball;
  • 7 people watch both basketball and soccer;
  • 12 people watch only soccer;
  • in total, 17+7+12=36 people watch some sports;
  • so, 49-36=13 people do not watch sports.

So, you can fill the table in following way

\begin{array}{cccc}&\text{Watch basketball}&\text{Don't watch basketball}&\text{Total}\\\text{Watch soccer}&7&12&19\\\text{Don't watch soccer}&17&13&30\\\text{Total}&24&25&49\end{array}

Carrie is buying bulk candy for a high school fundraiser. She buys 1000 candy bars for $350. What is the unit cost per candy bar
liubo4ka [24]
1000 candy bars ... $350
1 candy bar ... $x = ?

If you would like to know what is the unit cost per candy bar, you can calculate this using the following steps:

1000 * x = 350 * 1
1000 * x = 350    /1000
x = 350 / 1000
x = $0.35

Result: She can buy 1 candy bar for $0.35, so the correct result would be B) $.35.
