The bombing of Industrial Targets was a common practice engaged by the Air  Forces during the First and Second World Wars. It focused on eliminating the enemy's sourcing points which would eventually reduce the supply to its troops.

However, many of these industrial complexes were located in highly populated areas, as civilians lived near factories in which they worked. As a result, there was a great amount of collateral damage during bombings, as many houses would be destroyed by the bombings. The greatest example of this was the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 6th and 9th of August of 1945 respectively. This event led to the immediate death of tenths of thousands of people.
