All angles are less than right angles , each one is less then 90 degrees . An acute triangle may be equilateral , isosceles , or scalene Its impossible because an equilateral triangle is always acute

In an equilateral triangle all angles have to add up to be 180 and also have to halve the same angle and three obtuse angles cannot add up to 180

A rectangles width is one-fourth of its length . its area is 9 square units
Paha777 [63]

Answer:

Length = 6

Width = 3/2

Step-by-step explanation:

You can choose to go about this question in lots of different ways, but this is how i did it. I drew a diagram of the rectangle and labeled it: the height/length as x and the width as x/4 (they told us the width is a quarter of the length). They also told us that the area is 9 square units.

We know that length x width = area

So: length x width = 9

I'm gonna bring in the variables i used in the diagram, so:

x x \frac{x}{4} = 9

Keep solving:

\frac{x^{2} }{4}= 9

Times both sides by 4:

x^{2} = 36

Square root both sides for x:

* remember that when you square root, its possible to have a positive or negative version of the value

x = ±6

Since its impossible to have a negative length, we can say that x = 6.

X was just the variable we gave to the length of the rectangle, so now we know the length is 6. If you needed to find width as well, you can do 6/4, which simplifies to 3/2.

To double-check

- 6 x 3/2 should equal 9, since length x width = area

which it is, so we're correct!

Hope that helped : )

Solving QE's by factoring
gogolik [260]

Answer:

The factored form of this is (x - 7)(x -4)

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to factor quadratic equaitons with a 1 as the first coefficient, we look for two numbers that multiply to the last number (28), but add up to the middle number (-11). To do this, we often list the factors of the last number.

Factors of 28

1, 28

-1, -28

2, 14

-2, -14

4, 7

-4, -7

The numbers -4 and -7 satisfy this requirement and are therefore the numbers we want. Now we stick them into parenthesis along with x terms in the front like this:

(x - 7)(x -4)

And that is the fully factored form.

Sonny substituted 5 for x in the proportion 16/x =48/12 and cross multiplied to get 240 = 240. Why is this?
wolverine [178]
16 / 5 = 48 / 12

16 * 12 = 5 * 48
192 = 240

which is incorrect so 5 cannot be the solution of the equation.

substituting 4 for x will give you 192=192
